Cummins India, a power solutions technology provider, will now support its employees on gender reassignment surgery (GRS). As per this initiative, the company will extend financial assistance to employees who plan to undergo surgery to transform to the gender of their choice.
The company is known to be promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion policy at its workplaces. Last month, the company revised its gender-neutral dress code policy, and gave recognition to all genders, including binary and non-binary identities.
Besides, the company has also introduced gender-neutral washrooms across its facilities, providing a safe and comfortable environment for employees of all genders.
Cummins India also regularly conducts trainings on LGBTQ+ community to raise awareness and sensitivity among leaders.
In an official communique, Anupama Kaul, HR leader, Cummins India, highlighted the organisation’s century-long commitment to diversity and inclusion, emphasising the importance of breaking down barriers for historically marginalised communities including the LGBTQ+ community.
“Our India Pride Employee Resource Group plays a vital role in advocating for the rights and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community, fostering a safe, equitable and inclusive work environment where they are not only valued but also inspired and empowered to reach their full potential,” she says.
The ERG also undertakes initiatives such as the pride ally programmes and the ‘Know Thy Pronouns’ campaign. It also provides training to educate and sensitise employees towards LGBTQ+ inclusion, fostering allyship and respect in the workplace.
