Target will pay $500 bonus to 3,75,000 employees

Store directors and senior team leaders will get a bonus of $1,000 to $2,000 each

American retail company, Target, has announced bonuses for its over three lakh-strong workforce. The Company will pay its hourly-wage employees, working at its stores and distribution centres, a bonus of $500. Store directors, executive team leaders and salaried distribution centre leaders will receive a bonus in the range of $1,000 to $2,000 each. The Company will incur an expenditure of $200 million in paying out these bonuses.

Acknowledging the fact that it is the hard work of the frontline employees and their managers during the pandemic that helped to make essentials available to the general population, the retail Company has taken this opportunity to reward them.

Target will also extend its COVID-19 benefits by waiving off the absenteeism policy for COVID-related health conditions. It will offer access to healthcare and online consultancy by doctors free of cost, for all its staff. Vulnerable employees may avail of paid leave for 30 days. Free mental health counselling and backup care for employees based in the US are also on offer among other benefits.

This is the not the first time that Target has decided to reward its staff during the pandemic. Earlier too on about four occasions monetary bonuses have been extended to them. The Company also introduced a permanent minimum wage of $15 for its staff.

Target will soon launch an exclusive collection in collaboration with Levi Strauss & Co. The same will include more than a hundred home, pet, accessories and apparel products.
