Google employee in Bengaluru tests positive for Covid-19

The software engineer had returned from Greece in the first week of March.

An employee in Google’s Bengaluru office has tested positive for Covid-19 virus after he developed symptoms and was asked to undergo the test. Google Immediately shut the office and all employees were asked to work from home.

“We can confirm that an employee from our Bengaluru office has been diagnosed with COVID-19. He was in one of our Bangalore offices for a few hours before developing the symptoms,” the spokesperson of the company said in a statement.

The Company has asked all employees who came in touch with the software engineer to quarantine themselves. “The employee has been on quarantine since then, and we have asked colleagues who were in close contact with the employee to quarantine themselves and monitor their health,” the spokesperson said.

The software engineer who tested positive had returned from an overseas trip in the first week of March. With Covid-19 spreading like a wildfire, all over the world, the World Health Organisation is calling it a pandemic. In India, the count of people testing positive has touched 80, moreover, hundreds of people have been quarantined across the country.
