HP government transfers HPSSC staff over paper leakage incident

With many officials of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC), Hamirpur being found to be involved in the paper leaks scam and with other complaints and anomalies about the question papers / examinations coming to light, the State government has gone ahead and dissolved the HPSSC.

Chief Minister SS Sukhu has said that all examinations will now be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), Shimla, till a testing agency is appointed for the same.

Meanwhile, the employees of the HPSSC have now become part of the ‘surplus’ group and will be assigned to new departments, now that the Commission has been dissolved.

The vigilance department has been directed to take strict action against those found guilty of involvement in the paper leakage incident.

During investigations, the vigilance department had looked into electronic data from laptops, mobile phones, hard drives and so on, and found that leakage has happened in the past too.

An examination that was to be held on 25 December 2022 had been cancelled following a paper leakage happening on 23 December. In this case, a senior assistant of HPSSC was caught red handed with a solved question paper and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. This senior official along with members of her family were arrested.
