A special programme has been launched by the state government to promote self-employment among women.
Women from both urban and rural areas can now benefit from a special skill development programme rolled out by the Puducherry government. Meant to increase employment among the marginalised gender, the programme will offer free training for a short period to equip women with skills to make, among other things, dolls and jewellery.
Training will also be offered in the vegetable and food processing trades with each trade enrolling a batch of 20 candidates. The training programme will take place in all the labour welfare centres in Puducherry region.
