The Indian Railways is gearing up for what is going to probably be the biggest recruitment drive in the sector. The drive is aimed to provide jobs to nearly 2,30,000 employees under different cadres of the Indian Railways.
The recruitment will be made in two stages over the next 24 months. The aim is to fulfill the human resource requirements of new projects and enhance the overall efficiency of the entire railway network. The new appointments will take care of overtime work issues, delays in project implementation, and slow upgradation.
Investment in Railways has gone up three times in the last four years or so, leading to expansion work and resultant rise in demand for manpower. This will be the first major recruitment, resulting in 2,30,000 direct jobs, wherein the candidates will also enjoy the benefit of 10 per cent reservation for EWS.
