Microsoft is cutting 158 more jobs in Washington State which is not believed to be a part of its earlier 10,000 layoffs announced in January.
Microsoft is believed to be making changes to the organisation along with its efforts to manage its business effectively. It is also said the company will keep investing in strategic areas for future growth and to support their customers and partners.
As per a security filing, employees in the Redmond area will be the most affected by the layoffs.
Recently, in light of the persisting global macroeconomic conditions affecting the Big Tech industry, Microsoft has decided not to provide any salary increases to its salaried staff, including senior executives, this year. However, the company will continue providing bonuses and stock awards to its salaried employees.
According to a memo from Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, only hourly employees will be given salary increases this year. Additionally, the company’s main aim is to maintain its leadership position in its current large-scale businesses to generate sufficient profits for investment in the next wave.
