The maternity and paternity leaves have been increased from 12 to 26 weeks and from 5 to 10 days, respectively.

In an endeavour to ensure a balanced approach to work and life among its employees in the country, PayPal has announced an enhanced caregiving paid leave policy for its employees in India. The improved policy includes more than double its current maternity leave, increasing it from 12 to 26 weeks and double the paternity leave from 5 to 10 days.

As part of the new extended caregiving leave policy that came into effect from 1 January, this year, the company has also introduced paid adoption leave of 16 weeks for its women employees, while the paternity policy has been adjusted to include adoption leave within its mandate.

The move is part of PayPal’s continuing efforts to ensure a balanced work–life environment for its employees in the country.

The company believes that fostering an open, diverse and innovation-driven culture is essential for its employees to be at their creative best. Having said that, the extended caregiving policies not only enable women to come back to work after having children, but also offer a supportive, family-friendly environment for both parents.

Respecting the family dynamics of employees and understanding the fact that enabling an inclusive workplace also includes helping fathers spend more time with their new-born children the company has carefully enhanced its paternity leave, along with the newly introduced adoption leave policy.
