Giving a platform to young engineering talent to showcase their creativity, Tata Technologies, has launched InnoVent. The platform is not only designed to empower young engineering students in India but to help them develop innovative solutions to tackle the challenges encountered by the manufacturing industry.

The platform calls out to third and fourth-year engineering students to participate in a competition and showcase their level of innovation. The competition encompasses a wide range of areas, such as electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineering, smart manufacturing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Furthermore, the students will be asked to propose innovative projects that tackle real-world challenges.

The projects or project teams selected during the competition will be equipped with necessary innovation tools and technologies, while  subject matter experts (SMEs) will serve as mentors and guides to the top-performing team(s). Moreover, these projects will be evaluated based on diversity, novelty, feasibility, and impact, with a specific focus on encouraging participation from women engineers and team members with special abilities.

The competition will enable the top three winning teams the opportunity to win a cumulative cash prize of INR 4.5 lacs and secure a paid internship with Tata Technologies.

Commenting on the launch of Tata Technologies InnoVent, Warren Harris, MD director and CEO, Tata Technologies, expressed his belief that the platform embodies their dedication to engineering a better world for the younger generation. Furthermore, he explained how the company has identified real-world challenges encountered by the manufacturing industry as part of the programme, and how he anticipates receiving entries for innovative projects that Tata Technologies can mentor and support through the development process.

Additionally, in response to the launch of Tata Technologies InnoVent, Santosh Singh, executive vice president and global head of marketing and business excellence, Tata Technologies, stated that with InnoVent, Tata Technologies aims to create a platform that encourages young engineering students in India to propose creative solutions utilising the latest technology to overcome the obstacles faced by the manufacturing industry. The company plans to mentor and support the shortlisted team(s) and recognise those who exhibit a can-do attitude and present novel and scalable innovations. Singh specifically looks forward to the participation of women innovators and team members with special abilities.

Further information about the InnoVent program can be found at https://www.tatatechnologies.com/innovent/. The deadline for project submissions is 31st August 2023.
