Talks are also on for joint hosting of a management educators’ hub.

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has joined hands with technology giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The B-school will leverage the technological capability of TCS arm iON to conduct exams for its open online management courses which run across the country.

iON is well known for its assessment capability. IIM Bangalore will utilise this capability to successfully run the exams through its digital zones thrice a year, in Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The online open courses, which are taught across schools, are similar to the offline courses which the B-school runs on its campus.

V Ramaswamy, global head, iON said that talks are on for joint hosting of a management educators’ hub comprising of a community of educators interested in learning and teaching management courses. The hub will also connect institutions and publishers. Publishers can offer content to individuals and academia interested in learning and upgrading their skills. The hub will focus on courses in the areas of marketing, managerial economics, human resources and other management disciplines.

The idea is to adopt technology to provide a blended experience of classroom learning, outcome-led learning and adaptive assessments.  This collaboration is expected to create a virtual space where community members can exchange and collaborate teaching methods and ideas. B-school educators will be invited to be part of this hub, which will help in knowledge transfer and solving complex challenges.

P D Jose, chairman, online course, IIMB said that the education system is going through a sea change. More students are adopting e-learning solutions today. This collaboration will help complement each other’s strengths to better serve the students and faculty.

iON is a strategic unit of TCS that focuses mainly on manufacturing industries. It also focuses on educational institutions and examination boards. It works on the IT-as-a-service model where it uses technology to provide end-to-end business solutions.
