The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) committee has appointed Kalyan Sagar Nippani as the new director-human resources, Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL), a public sector undertaking under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Nippani has taken over from Arvind Vadnerkar, who held the position since 14 October, 2019.
Prior to this appointment, Nippani served as the principal general manager at BSNL. As a civil servant, Nippani held diverse roles, including serving as the circle head of finance, vertical head of accounts & ERP, and head of department (HoD) & chief general manager at the National Academy of Telecom Finance & Management (NATFM).
Nippani holds a postgraduate diploma in personnel management, as well as an MBA in finance and marketing management. Additionally, he also holds a postgraduate diploma in business management.
He has also authored five highly successful books covering leadership, business strategy and digital governance. Moreover, he is a well-known motivational speaker and serves as an honorary guest faculty for various organisations.
It is pertinent to mention here that PESB interviewed a total of 11 candidates, including Nippani, for the position at BSNL. Among these 11 candidates, six were affiliated with BSNL, two came from Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), and one each represented NBCC (India), Indian Telecommunication Service, and Haldia Petrochemicals.
