Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that regular and contractual primary school teachers of the State will receive a fifty per cent hike in their salaries. The hike will be effective from January 1, 2022. The decision for salary increment will benefit 33,038 junior teachers, including 13,324 contractual and 19,714 regulars, who have been working in the schools across the state.
The contractual teachers who were receiving Rs 7, 400 per month will now get Rs 11, 000 and the junior teachers who were earning Rs 9, 200 earlier, will now be granted Rs 13, 800.
On December 31, 2021, following a cabinet meeting, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra had announced that the state government had passed the proposal to give grant-in-aid according to the 7th Pay Commission scale, to the staff in non-government high schools, upper primary schools, madrasas and colleges. The aid will benefit 26,164 teaching and non-teaching employees and is going to cost the government 126 crores.
On January 1, the state government had granted regular titles to 8,102 junior teachers who had been on contract in the state schools. School and Mass Education Minister, Sameer Dash had conveyed that all the junior teachers benefiting from the decision had graduated in 2015. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) had also promoted 40, 052 teachers.
