As the travel industry soars in 2024, major Taiwanese airlines have decided to give salary increments and bonuses to their employees. Tigerair Taiwan is leading the way by offering the highest bonus among all Taiwanese airlines—an average of 10.8 months’ worth of salary.
Tigerair Taiwan has approved a plan to provide 4 months’ worth of salaries, performance-based bonuses ranging from 50,000 to 80,000 new Taiwan dollars, and a standard bonus of 20,000 new Taiwan dollars to its employees this year. This means that top-performing employees could receive a bonus as high as 14 months worth of wages. Last year, the airline gave bonuses to its staff in August and December.
In addition to the bonuses, Tigerair Taiwan has decided to increase employees’ salaries by an average of four per cent and raise food subsidies by 12 per cent for the year 2024.
China Airlines is giving employees a bonus equal to five months’ salary, along with a one-time cash reward of 20,000 new Taiwan dollars. On top of that, they’ll see an average 4 per cent increase in their pay.
EVA Airways is also giving its employees the biggest year-end bonuses ever, equal to six months’ salary. Additionally, crew and ground staff will see an average monthly pay increase of NT$5,000, while pilots will get a raise ranging from 11,000 to 20,000 new Taiwan dollars.
In comparison, Starlux Airlines, a newer airline, is offering a one-month bonus and a salary increase of 2,000 new Taiwan dollars to its employees. They will also receive an extra 1,000 new Taiwan dollars as transport allowance.
