    eBay appoints Cornelius Boone as chief people officer

    American multinational e-commerce company, eBay, appointed Cornelius Boone as SVP, chief people officer. Boone moves from American Airlines, where he was vice president, human resources for a little less than three years.

    In his new role, Boone, will handle all elements of HR globally, with a focus on driving business peformance, people tools and technologies, talent development and acquisition, learning and development strategies, compensation and benefits and HR shared services.

    Backed by almost 15 years of experience in the HR domain, Boone has worked with Walmart as vice president – HR for a year and a half. There, he was heading store operations talent management for Walmart’s 1.2 million front-line associates in the US, across over 5000 retail locations. Before that, he was VP-HR for Walmart Global eCommerce for two years and nine months.

    It was in 2010 that he joined Walmart first, as a sernio HR manager – health and wellness. After more than one and a half years, he got promoted to the position of corporate director of human resources. From 2012 to 2014, he served as senior director, HRBP, Walmart Stores Operations for the Greater Chicago Area. There, he led a team of 35 HR professionals supporting all Walmart stores in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky, that is, a $22B business unit with about 90,000 associates.

    Boone who graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2003, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and government. He is a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Arkansas School of Law at Fayetteville and served as employment lawyer at Littler Mendelson for three years, where he gained experience in in labour relations and employment law, as well as federal, state, and local employment regulations, employment benefits, and common law employment issues
