Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, president and CEO, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), was named Professional Society CEO of the Year, by CEO Update, for fostering workplace innovation, ensuring that HR professionals have a seat at the policy table, creating more equitable workplaces, and elevating the HR profession.

CEO Update, launched the Association Leadership Awards in 2014 to honor individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills throughout their career. This year, it recognised Taylor, Jr.’s achievements, including the Together Forward @Work initiative, that aims to ensure racial equity at the workplace. The programme provides HR professionals with resources to enable their organisations to effectively navigate the pandemic, and advance federal policies that take into account the best interest of workers and workplaces.

A popular expert in the field of human resources, Taylor, Jr. is known for his ability to lead during crisis and uncertainty. His efforts to innovate in the HR domain and discuss the future of work are essential in today’s times. It is due to his tireless striving that SHRM has been able to experience transformative change and spur innovative thinking, with its members becoming better equipped to handle the most daunting challenges facing organisations.

It is Taylor, Jr.’s belief that “leading with empathy and fostering workplace cultures where people can bring their most authentic selves to the office,” can make a lot of difference and impact not only at the workplace but also in “homes and communities”.

As the voice of all things work, workers and the workplace, SHRM is dedicated to creating better workplaces. It has over three lakh HR and business executive members in 165 countries, and impacts the lives of over 115 million workers and families globally.
