    Average salary of Rs 16 lakh offered to IIIT Delhi students

    At the recent placement drive at the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi, where more than a 100 companies participated, Rs 16.06 lakh per annum was the average salary offered to the candidates this year. The highest domestic offer made to the B-Tech and M-Tech students was Rs 39 lakh per annum. A total of 443 offers were made of which 269 were full-time positions, while 174 were pre-placement offers of internship.

    According to the Institute, the average package for BTech was Rs 15.81 lakh. For BTech CSE, it was Rs 17.43 lakh and for BTech ECE, it was Rs 11.30 lakh. The average MTech package was Rs 16.39 lakh.

    About 25 students from the final batch will be pursuing higher studies overseas, in universities such as Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California, John Hopkins University, Harvard University, University of Maryland, University of Virginia, University of Kansas, University of Texas at Austin, and so on. Of these, 17 will be pursuing MS, while eight will be pursuing a PhD.

    The seven BTech programmes have 469 students this year, whereas the three MTech programmes have enrolled 207 students specialising in different areas. There are also 27 PhD students at the Institute this year.

    The Institute has introduced two new interdisciplinary programmes—BTech in computer science and artificial intelligence (AI), and PhD in human-centered design.
