With a strong focus on organizational agility and resilient work cultures, the 49th IFTDO World Conference & Exhibition is set to take place in the physical format after two years, from May 19-21, 2022. Themed ‘Strategies for an Agile Work Culture: Pathways to the New Age’, the three-day international conference will witness insights and deliberations from eminent Indian and international professionals, industry experts and exhibitors on what organizations can do to support an agile work culture in the post-pandemic era.

This will be the 5th time this international conference will be held in India after 2013.

IFTDO 2022 will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, in the presence of Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Housing & Urban Affairs and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Hon’ble Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development & Training, Govt. of Mauritius, Shri Soodesh Satkam Callichurn will be present at the valedictory session.

It is being organized by the Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) in collaboration with National Human Resource Development (NHRD) and the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE). Other associates are Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

IFTDO 2022 will discuss the challenges being faced by companies to cope with a new model of work. The sessions – panel discussions, concurrent sessions and plenary sessions – will be grouped under four tracks: Skills, Technology, Markets and Sustainability.

More than 500 speakers from India, Bahrain, Nigeria, Malaysia, Ireland and more countries, are expected to bring diverse perspectives and ideas across sessions on topics including pushing the boundaries of agile work culture in reshaping human capabilities, challenges of skilling workforce in a gig economy, the importance of skills in a digitally connected workplace, conserving human touch in a digitally connected workplace, driving enterprise agility through workforce strategies, the metaverse and virtual reality for learning and development, unleashing decision-making through data and re-skilling and up-skilling with digital interventions and more. Some speakers will also be joining the Conference virtually.

More than 20 top-notch exhibitors will showcase their products. More than 40 interactive learning sessions will be arranged under the stewardship of renowned moderators across the industry. Students from various higher educational institutions will also be attending.

Addressing the media ahead of the inauguration, Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, President IFTDO, and Director (HR), Indian Oil Corporation Limited said, “As organizers of this prestigious event, we kept our fingers crossed till the end as the pandemic kept on playing the spoilsport. Finally, the stage is set for its gala opening. The theme of this 49th IFTDO seeks to tackle the current scenario so that it brings greater dynamism to the marketplace and is relevant to the context, especially in the pandemic and post-pandemic era. It will be a melting point for discussions, networking and learning. We will discuss what we have learned from the pandemic and what must be unlearned now in the future of work.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Natraj Ray, National President, ISTD reiterated that, “This is indeed a unique opportunity after the pandemic to meet physically and deliberate on skilling, reskilling and how to make use of what we have learned from the pandemic and its challenges in the years ahead. As ISTD, the largest learning and development organization in the country, we are delighted to host the IFTDO 2022.”

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Vinayshil Gautam, Chair, Steering Committee & President Emeritus, ISTD said, “The Conference is going to be a major contribution to the search of directions. I think the profession of being a manager is dead. The profession is changing, and I think this Conference is going to provide a tentative direction for thinking. I am looking forward to speaking at the session titled ‘On top of the innovation curve’.”

The event will also have ‘IFTDO Global Awards Program’ which will recognize the achievements of organizations and their people from different sectors. The prestigious conference had two back-to-back virtual editions in the last two years, and returns to the offline medium at Vigyan Bhawan and Le Meridien.
