Amazon has shut down its health-oriented division, Halo, and halted the sales of its Halo Band, Halo View, and Halo Rise devices, which are currently unavailable on the company’s website. Furthermore, Amazon has also laid off workers from the Halo team.
The company has announced that starting August 1, 2023, Amazon Halo devices, including the app, will no longer function.
In a blog post released on April 26, 2023, Amazon stated that the decision to stop supporting Amazon Halo was difficult and that affected employees in the US and Canada have been notified. However, the company also acknowledged that the process may take longer in other regions, depending on local procedures and consultation with employee representatives. To assist impacted employees, Amazon is offering a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits, and job placement support.
Amazon has stated that it will offer full refunds for purchases made within the last 12 months of the Amazon Halo View, Amazon Halo Band, Amazon Halo Rise, and Amazon Halo accessory bands. Customers who have paid for a Halo subscription and have not used it will also receive a refund to their original payment method. Moreover, Amazon has confirmed that customers with a paid subscription will no longer be charged the monthly fee, effective immediately, and no further action is required from them.
