With about 1,600 employees infected by the coronavirus till date, and some even having lost their lives to it, HCL Technologies has stepped up to ensure that its 1.6 lakh strong workforce is taken care of. The Indian tech major is offerings its staff an insurance cover of 30 lakhs in addition to a Rs 7-lakh employee deposit insurance cover for COVID. If an employee passes on due to COVID, the family will receive full value of this cover along with a year’s salary of the employee.

The families of the employees who have lost their lives to COVID will get medical cover for three years, while their children’s education will be covered for five years. If their spouses are keen to take up a job with the Company, they will be provided adequate training to facilitate the same.

The Company has already created a ‘Power One’ corpus, to which each employee contributes one rupee daily. It is now looking at creating a fund for the financial assistance of affected staff.

Earlier this week, the HCL Group did its bit to help with COVID-19 care facilities in Delhi-NCR. On May 6, it announced that it will help set up 500 hospital beds in various facilities, including the Commonwealth Games Village (CWG), Holy Family Hospital, Sama Hospital and Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi, as well as the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Greater Noida Authority.

The Group has contributed to the installation of the oxygen plant at the Commonwealth Games Village, in collaboration with the Delhi government and Doctors for You.
