The demonstrators will include both existing and former Google employees, along with members of Alphabet Employee Union, who represent the employees of Google.

Project Nimbus was announced by Google in 2019 wherein, the Company together with Amazon is to provide the Israeli Military with its artificial intelligence and cloud computing services. Though Google has not shared any specific information regarding the Project, media reports say that it will include capabilities and technologies such as image-analysis tools to detect faces, facial landmarks and emotions, and to track objects in videos. Google, however, maintains that it believes in responsible AI innovation and the sole aim of Project Nimbus is to digitally transform the country and help the government agency’s everyday work related to finance, healthcare, transportation and education.

The frustrated Google employees argue that such a technology should not go to any military outfit.

As per the union, about 800 employees of Google have signed a petition against Project Nimbus.

The protesting employees share that their voices are not being heard by the top Google management and that the Company has tried to silence their voices instead.

Recently, a Google employee named Ariel Koren resigned. She was involved in leading the campaign against Project Nimbus at Google. Other employees who have raised their voices against the tech giant’s bias practices have either resigned or have been terminated by the firm.
