Google has warned employees that they’ll lose pay and eventually be fired from their jobs if they fail to get vaccinated by January 18, 2022. Earlier, Google had set the deadline as December 3, 2021, and notified the employees that they should declare their status of vaccination by then. It would then start to contact the employees whose vaccination status was not complete.

As per the new report, employees who still haven’t taken the vaccination till January 18, will be sent on a “paid administrative leave” for 30 days, and if they fail to get their jabs themselves even after this, they will be placed under “unpaid personal leave” for six months after which they will be expelled from the Company. The employees can apply for medical or religious exemption.

Earlier, Google had pushed the US office joining date for employees from January 10, 2022, in the face of rising threat of the Omicron variant across the country, and the world. In addition to this, it also provided a bonus of $1600 or equivalent value to its extended workforce and interns. It is expected to be distributed to all employees by the end of the year. The reward was announced as a way to encourage everyone who has been affected by the pandemic, or suffered loss in the last two years.

However, it was reported last week that the Company is not going to adjust employees’ salaries for inflation, which is quite high in the US.
