Laziness has never been rewarded in history, as pointed out to his employees by Niraj Shah, CEO, Wayfair, the US-based online retail firm.
Shah has reportedly written to his employees highlighting the fact that success cannot come from being lazy; and that there is no need to steer clear of long hours of work or blurring the boundaries of work and personal life.
Simply put, Shah has encouraged employees to work more hours and indicated that this would be the culture that would be promoted in the near future. According to him, those with ambition manage to comfortably balance their personal and work life and progress in life.
He has made it clear that agility, smartness, aggressiveness and a customer-oriented approach hold the key to success.
Shah has called upon employees to think twice before spending the company’s money. In other words, he wants employees to be reasonable when it comes to expenditure and negotiate the price that they pay for anything.
Clearly, the culture at Wayfair is set to change dramatically in the future.
While Shah reportedly admits that the company has grown and revenue has picked up, he also calls upon employees to work harder so that the firm can bounce back and earn more profits.
Wayfair, has managed to post increased revenue in the third quarter after nine successive quarters of dipping revenue. Its net revenue was about $2.9 billion in Q3, which is reportedly 3.7 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
