NIIT has launched a new programme, StackRoute, which promises to offer quality career skills training to create job-ready talent for Indian startups. It aims to create multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary programmers, who can become key members of high-performance teams.
The talent requirement of startups is quite diverse from that of large organisations. Unlike traditional jobs, startups do not require ‘a cog in the wheel’ with defined responsibilities. Instead, they need people who are just multitalented.
For instance, the kind of software engineers needed by the startup sector, are significantly different from the kind required by software factories.
Startups look for engineers who are versatile and have full stack programming skills.
NIIT has launched a new programme, StackRoute, which promises to offer quality career skills training to create job-ready talent for Indian startups. It aims to create multi-skilled and multi-disciplinary programmers, who can become key members of high-performance teams.
NIIT claims that the product has been developed in consultation with the industry, startups, product engineering companies and incubators.
The pilot programme is being launched in Bangalore in Koramangala, India’s most concentrated startup hub.
The initial pilot focusses on the JavaScript and NoSQL stack, and will be followed by a series of further specialised full stack programmes focussed on data sciences & analytics; IT security, etc.
These full-stack programmes over the near future, will be made available to key product engineering and startup hubs in India.
As part of the programme, that will run for over 12 weeks, the students will be made to experience a work environment similar to that of a product company.
Additionally, they are mentored by a team of senior architects and tech leads drawn from the industry.
By the end of the programme, students produce real products over this time frame, which are then released as Open Source contributions or as part of App Stores and become primary demonstrators of their competencies.
The programme also claims to use innovative pedagogical methodologies and intensive learning analytics.

Technology has become a great enabler. Hence, the need of the hour is young professionals who can work on multiple technology platforms.”
