This financial year, more than one lakh youth will be trained under this programme.

The Karnataka government has launched a skilling programme named ‘Yuva Yuga’ to skill the youths of the state with new-age technologies. This programme is in line with the government’s aim of creating more than 10 lakh skilled jobs.

The need of hour is skilling the youth with new and relevant technologies, so that they are industry-ready with required skills. Programmes like Yuva Yuga aim to train potential workers with skills which the industry demands nowadays.

This financial year, more than one lakh youth will be trained under this programme.

Minister for IT-BT Priyank Kharge said, “Yuva Yuga is a path-breaking platform to advance industry skills among the youth. While Karnataka has been a frontrunner in IT in the country with Bengaluru being the hotbed for innovation and growth of start-ups, we should now emerge as a leading growth state in other sectors such as manufacturing, animation, gaming, visual effects, telecom, etc. Therefore, we aim to create a bigger and employable talent pool trained in new skills across the state.”

To support and promote the programme among the youth, the government will take help from the Karnataka state departments of IT, biotech and science and technology. These departments will help by providing training on  digital technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning .

Kharge further adds, “The training programmes are focused on skilling the youth for entry-level and mid-level jobs. People with up to 10 years of experience will be trained to keep them updated with new technologies in the industry.”

The government will also collaborate with industries and other partners to keep the programme  in line with current industry demands.
