Congruent Solutions — a technology solutions and outsourced plan administration services provider to the retirement plan industry in the US — has initiated a new learning and development drive in the Company. It is upskilling its 375 employees globally, through comic strips!

The comic strips have four fictional characters — Bruce, Bella, Priya and Captain Firewall — who are capable of explaining all the topics and subjects part of the learning objective in a conversational manner.

The Company’s “new L&D module breaks down the content into digestible nuggets of information for easier understanding. This format of training has made learning more personal and effective. It has been very well appreciated and received by our employees,” shared Balaraman Jayaraman, president and CEO, Congruent Solutions.

The bite-sized learning with a microlearning approach, covers the topics in such a way that people can learn at their own pace and time. The objective is to make complex subjects easier to grasp for the new-age employees who have a short attention span.

Congruent has always focused on ensuring that its employees acquire deep domain knowledge of the retirement plan industry. “Training through microlearning and use of comic strips are helping complex subjects to be imbibed efficiently and it’s also appealing to a wide spectrum of demographics,” admitted Jayaraman.

Bite-sized learning in the form of comic strips and quizzes is appealing to the younger workforce as it is less time consuming and as effective as a full-fledged training session. This technique of using comic strips will cover a variety of topics including the defined contributions industry in the US and understand fundamental topics, such as data protection and privacy, cyber security and other good practices followed by the organisation.

“In order to serve our customers effectively, we believe that our employees need to understand their demands well. Only by aligning to their requirements faster, can we deliver better service and develop impactful solutions, “ pointed out Jayaraman.

As per the Company, the employees have responded well, as 90 per cent of them have benefitted from this initiative.
