MP to hire 75% locals in factories and mines

Lease holders of minor mineral mines will have to mandatorily set aside 75 per cent of jobs for natives of the state.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh has revealed that the Madhya Pradesh government intends to ensure that 75 per cent of the jobs in mines and factories in the state goes to local youths. Industries will be able to enjoy state benefits only if they hire 75 per cent locals.

This will require certain rules pertaining to minor minerals and district mineral foundation, to be amended. Henceforth, lessess of minor minerals will have to offer 75 per cent of the jobs to bona fide residents of MP. In other words, lease-holders of minor mineral mines will have to mandatorily set aside 75 per cent of jobs for natives of the state.

Efforts will also be made to obtain 100 per cent royalty of all extracted minerals. The MP government plans to establish a separate force to protect and manage mineral resources in the state. The major and minor mineral resources of MP are a prime source of royalty, and the state government wishes ensure that it is not lost.

During the launch of various development projects worth Rs 302 crore, the CM also revealed that hiring will begin for state government jobs soon. Earlier, in August, the CM had said that only people of Madhya Pradesh will be able to apply for MP state government jobs.
