    Ola Electric to go for organisational restructuring, will hire 2000

    With an aim to build electric vehicles and BaaS systems across various segments, Ola Electric Mobility (OEM) is planning to go on a hiring spree and expand its workforce by 2000 employees globally.

    The Company, which is the electric vehicle arm of Ola Cabs, plans to hire over 1,000 engineers globally over the next three months and another 1,000 people across other functions.

    This information was shared by Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and chief executive, OEM, in an e-mail to the employees. The hiring is part of an organisational restructuring aimed at making OEM a global engineering organisation.

    As part of OEM’s ‘Mission:Electric’ in the month of June, the Company is  focussing  and keeping its stakes high on the electro mobility segment.

    The mission is a collaborative platform to bring one million electric vehicles on the road for everyday mobility, by 2021

    The Company is working with vehicle and battery manufacturers, cities, driver-partners, and the mobility ecosystem to make electric mobility convenient, dependable and affordable.

    When the demand for shared mobility services dried up following the lockdown imposed by the Government to contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak, the Company had been forced to fire 1,400 people in May.

    Currently, the entire team of OEM is working to launch Ola Electric’s first product, an electric scooter
