PlanetSpark, the Indian global educational technology firm, is gearing to hire at least 10,000 English teachers in 2022. The platform already has a 2,100 strong team of teachers in place.

The new hires will help strengthen the Company’s presence in India, the US and the Middle East. The platform will soon make its presence felt in Europe and South East Asia as well.

As Kunal Malik, co-founder, PlanetSpark reveals, “India has an estimated pool of 1.8 million potential English teachers” and each year, around 400,000 English, communication and BEd graduates are added to this pool. “This provides a unique demographic advantage to build a global communication skills market leader from India,” says Malik.

The teachers will teach global students using PlanetSpark’s platform from the comfort of their homes. They will enjoy the flexibility to choose a convenient time slot in the day as the company caters to students from multiple time zones.

The teachers are provided with well-researched and detailed lesson plans of PlanetSpark’s proprietary curriculum. They are also provided with exhaustive online training on PlanetSpark’s learning management system (LMS).

With the remote-working revolution impacting the teaching industry, Maneesh Dhooper, co-founder, PlanetSpark, reveals that “online teaching has become a serious profession”. He shares that “top-notch teachers have adopted online teaching in large numbers and they do not want to go back to the traditional offline classroom teaching. The best teachers from small towns all across India are signing up with us in large numbers”.

By associating with PlanetSpark, teachers are able to increase their earnings by 40-50 per cent, while having to spend only half of the time spent at a regular school job.

Interested candidates will need to undergo an automated selection process. They need to clear the PlanetSpark Aptitude Test (PSAT) and undergo three rounds of interviews before getting selected as a teacher. Post that, they are provided with a week’s live online training and 143 micro-courses on PlanetSpark’s LMS to prepare them.

Having raised funds to the tune of $13.5 million in a Series-B round, led by Prime Venture Partners and entrepreneurs such as Binny Bansal and Deep Kalra in December 2021, PlanetSpark is set to increase its share aggressively in the $82 billion global communication skills market
