With several companies seriously considering remote working as a permanent arrangement for their employees, the Emirate of Dubai has introduced an initiative wherein professionals from anywhere in the world — who are working remotely — may relocate to Dubai, on an annually, and continue to work for an employer or organisation in their home country.

With zero income tax in Dubai, this is an excellent option for remote workers to shift to Dubai along with their families and enjoy its safe environment. The government of Dubai also offers ‘a strong digital infrastructure’, which is ideal for remote working.

Those interested in taking up this offer need to possess a passport with at least six months’ validity and their salary should be at least US $5,000 per month. They must also furnish a proof of employment from the current employer with a valid one-year contract along with the previous month’s payslip and bank statement of three preceding months. Health insurance with valid UAE coverage is also a must.

In case of owners of companies, proof of ownership of the company for a year or more will have to be presented along and an average monthly income of US $5,000 is a must. Bank statements for three preceding months will need to be furnished too. The cost of the programme is about $287 in addition to medical insurance with valid UAE coverage and processing fee per individual.

Those accepted for the programme can enjoy telecom, schooling, utilities and all other services in Dubai.

Dubai has been awarded the Safe Travels Stamp by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which makes it a safe country to travel and relocate to even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Government of Dubai has emphasised on the fact that the Emirate offers safety and the right dynamic environment for digital-savvy professionals to work remotely for a few months or even a whole year.
