Extending its presence in India, Thales, a French technology company, has inaugurated a new office in Bengaluru. This office will act as an extension of its Engineering Competence Centre (ECC).
The ECC will be dedicated to enhancing software and hardware capabilities in both civil and defence sectors. The Centre, initially established in 2019, has played a crucial role in generating employment opportunities and fostering skill development. Currently, it employs over 500 individuals.
The new Bengaluru facility represents a contemporary and sustainable approach to workplace design, incorporating elements of traditional Indian architecture and script. With inclusivity at its core, the office incorporates features catering to individuals with disabilities and integrates energy-efficient systems, aligning with Thales’ global commitments to environmental and social responsibility.
Ashish Saraf, VP and country director, Thales India, expressed that as the engineering setup expands in Bengaluru alongside Noida, they are actively building in-country capabilities by combining global expertise with local talent. This approach aims to create new opportunities and innovations for both Indian and global customers.
Thales has a strong presence in India, operating in the country since 1953. With its main office in Noida and additional branches in key cities such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai, the company has a workforce exceeding 2,000 individuals, including those involved in the joint ventures.
The company has played a pivotal role in various sectors, including defence, transport, aerospace and digital identity and security. The engineering centres located in Noida and Bengaluru are essential to its operations, focusing on diverse technological advancements in digital identity and security, as well as hardware, software and systems engineering for both civil and defence applications.
Furthermore, the company has a global workforce strength exceeding 77,000 across 68 countries. In 2022, the company achieved sales totaling €17.6 billion.
