The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board has decided to raise the wages of around 9,000 contract and outsourced workers. This was announced during a meeting in Tirumala, led by B Karunakar Reddy, chairman, TTD and AV Dharma Reddy, executive officer, TTD, showing their commitment to improving employees’ lives.
The pay increase, ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 20,000, will benefit thousands of workers / employees with different skills and involved in various tasks at the institution, from managing the temple to making the famous laddu prasadams.
Alongside the wage increase, the board has also given the green light for expanding the SV Employees Canteen in Tirumala with a budget of Rs 8.15 crore. This expansion is aimed at providing cheaper meals to the staff, showing that their well-being is a top priority for the board.
To meet the growing demand for Tirumala’s laddu prasadam, the board plans to create 15 new supervisor positions. Despite some controversy, such as the removal of Ramana Dikshitulu, chief priest , the board is focused on maintaining integrity.
Extending facility-management services and housing allowances for Srivari temple staff also show the board’s commitment to balancing tradition with modern practices.
Overall, these changes show the TTD’s dedication to its employees’ welfare while keeping up with spiritual and operational standards. This sets a good example for other religious institutions to follow.
