Welspun group to create over 1000 new jobs in TG

The Telangana government requested that the company relocate their new plant from Gujarat to Telangana, leading to the establishment of two plants in the region with a combined investment of approximately Rs 2,000 crore.

On February 22, 2023, Welspun Group, a global conglomerate, announced its plans to establish an information technology (IT)/ information technology-enabled services (ITeS) centre in Chandanvelly, Ranagareddy district in Telangana. 

The establishment of the Welspun IT Centre will see the fulfillment of the local people’s dream to have IT companies in their region. This will provide employment opportunities for 1,000-1,200 local youths.

The announcement was made by Balkrishan Goenka, the company’s chairman, during the inauguration of Welspun India’s advanced textiles facility, in the presence of Telangana minister for industries K T Rama Rao.

Rao expressed his confidence that the company’s decision will strengthen Telangana government’s aim to expand IT to tier 2 and 3 cities, and hopes that more small and medium level companies will follow Welspun’s lead and establish IT centres in the area.

Addressing the gathering, Telangana Minister KTR highlighted the transformation of Chandanvelly, from having no industry around five years ago to becoming the biggest industrial society in Telangana, with companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Kitex setting up operations in the area. 

He further mentioned that the establishment of the Welspun IT Centre is a result of the effort put into bringing each industry to the region, and that Welspun has even set up a Welspun city there. He also mentioned that, based on the government’s request, the company shifted their new plant from Gujarat to Telangana, resulting in two plants being set up in the region with a total investment of around Rs 2,000 crore.
