Barnali Roychowdhary has been appointed VP and head-HR at Instamojo early this year. Before joining the free online payment platform, Roychowdhary was the VP-HR at Portea, a healthcare company. An alumna of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Roychowdhary comes with an experience of more than 16 years in HR. She took up the position at Instamojo in January, after taking a break of seven to eight months.

In her new role, Roychowdhary will take the charge of evolving and building the people front of the Company. “While Instamojo has done well to gain the trust in the nascent stage, we are now focussing on growing the business. How we manage growth is the key to success. Instamojo is a progressive organization, we believe people help us to grow and scale up. The Human Resources function of Instamojo, aims to create a truly rewarding experience by engaging the hearts and minds of its people. We are focusing on the building blocks of Human Resources function by incorporating the industry best practices as well as establishing policies that serves our people right,” shares Roychowdhary.

She adds, ” Our key theme at Instamojo is to nurture a creative workplace and provide employees the time and space to enjoy what they do best. Instamojo have already sowed this empowering culture early and now we must build it from here.”

Instamojo is a fintech company, which provides loans and funding solutions particularly to MSEs, targeting the small towns and cities in the country.

It will be quite a challenge for her to manage HR in a smaller company. “After establishing the HR function ground up at Portea and seeing it grow was fulfilling, I decided to seek new adventure and Instamojo happened,” mentions Roychowdhary.

Saritha TP has replaced Roychowdhary as the SVP & head-HR at Portea.

Roychowdhary has worked across various sectors, such as retail, consultancy, pharmaceuticals, IT and healthcare.

She started her career working with The Head Hunters India, a recruiting and staffing company. She has worked with many other reputed organisations, such as Wipro, Landmark Group and Arvind Lifestyle Brands.
