Swati Chawla, who was director for organisational effectiveness at Philip Morris International (PMI), has now been elevated to the role of director – people and culture, for Malaysia. Prior to this, Chawla was operating out of Hong Kong, driving agility at the organisation through behavioural change. As the director for organisation effectiveness, she was also responsible for designing and implementing the operating model for transformation across regions and markets for Philip Morris.
Chawla has been working with PMI for more than three years. Prior to joining PMI, she was the global head for HR analytics, strategy and planning at Syngenta, which operates in the agri-tech sector and employs over 40,000 people worldwide. In this role, for over three years, she headed the research, analytics and predictive modelling function, to enhance the future of HR in the organisation.
An alumna of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Chawla completed her post graduate diploma in HR before joining GE Capital International Services. She worked with the company in various locations in India and the US as an HR manager. Moving on, Chawla joined Baxter International, a healthcare solutions and products company, catering to patients and hospitals, as a country HR manager for Malaysia and Singapore.
For a short stint of six months, Chawla also served as the vice president for talent management at HSBC. She has worked as a consultant and project manager for companies such as Hewitt Aon and Towers Watson.
