Sharmila Sherikar has joined Sonata Software as the senior VP and head of corporate development. She comes with extensive experience of 30 years.
Sherikar embarked on her career journey in 1994 as a senior manager, human resources, Citigroup Overseas Software, where she worked for six years. Following her tenure at Citigroup, she assumed the role of head of human resources, Silverline. However, her most extensive and impactful tenure spanned an impressive 19 years at Virtusa, where she initially served as the head of human resources for the Americas and later rose to the position of senior vice president HR. With over three decades of industry experience, Sherikar brings a wealth of expertise in change management and corporate development programmes to Sonata, a company that specialises in modernisation engineering.
She possesses the ability to navigate and oversee significant organisational restructuring initiatives, along with a deep understanding of orchestrating and executing transformational projects aligned with strategic corporate objectives. Her familiarity with guiding change-management efforts during mergers and acquisitions and cultivating talent and capabilities during periods of high growth makes her a valuable addition to the Sonata team.
Sharing her excitement at this new assigment, Sherikar states, “I am thrilled to be a part of Sonata Software as the company navigates through its high-growth phase. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with internal and external teams to enhance our relationships with stakeholders and deliverables, all while maintaining a heightened focus on operational excellence.”
Last year, Sonata witnessed active involvement from its top 100 senior executives, who came together to articulate their three-year objectives and chart the corporate strategy aimed at achieving a milestone of $1.5 billion in revenue by the conclusion of FY26. As a pivotal step in this pursuit, Sonata successfully acquired Quant Systems for $160 million.
The company has been actively investing in talent acquisition, technology enhancements, market expansion and strategic partnerships to propel its rapid growth trajectory. Samir Dhir, managing director and CEO, Sonata Software, is “thrilled to welcome Sherikar to Sonata.” He is confident that “she will be instrumental in accelerating our hyper-growth by shaping, evolving, and executing strategic changes and corporate development programmes. We extend our best wishes to her as we remain committed to achieving top-tier growth performance in the industry.”
