Diageo India has appointed Shilpa Vaid as its new chief human resources officer. She was formerly the BU people lead, India for Mondelez International, for over a year.
An alumna of Hindu College, Delhi University, Vaid completed an MBA in HR from International Management Institute in 1999. Thereafter, she began her corporate journey with short stints at Ernst & Young, Arthur Andersen and Aviva India in the period 1999 to 2004.
The year 2004 saw her donning the hat of AVP – HR at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, based out of Bengaluru. In 2003, she joined Aviva India as manager – HR. Three years later, she moved to ABN Amro Bank for about five months.
Her next stop was MetLife, where she joined as country head – HR in 2007. Three years into this role, she was elevated to global talent management and eventually became Asia talent management lead in 2012.
After a successful tenure of almost six and a half years at MetLife, Vaid switched to Bharti AXA General Insurance as chief human resource officer and corporate responsibility officer.
January of 2016 saw Vaid moving once again, to a different industry. She joined Arvind Fashions as CHRO. Till 2019, she shouldered the overall responsibility for the HR and admin functions for Arvind Lifestyle Brands, Arvind Fashions, Arvind Beauty Brands Retail, Arvind True Blue and Arvind Sports Lifestyle.
A year’s break later, she got back to work with an assignment as HR head – Prione & Cloudtail, Prione Business Services. This stint lasted less than a year and a half, as Vaid moved yet again, and joined Mondelez International.
With two decades of experience backing her, Diageo is relying on Vaid’s “proven track record of driving business towards significant expansion and growth through restructuring and transformation”, to “help drive the inclusive and unsurpassed culture at Diageo India by honing talent, and enhancing organisational capabilities”, as per the Company’s post on LinkedIn.
