Sun Life, the Hong Kong-based financial services company, has elevated Helen P as the CHRO and has announced this development through a post on social media. Prior to this elevation, Helen was the VP for talent acquisition and development at Sun Life. Helen joined Sun Life as an associate vice president for global talent function, back in 2017. Within five years, she has received her second promotion in the Company.

“I am thrilled to share that I was appointed chief human resources officer for Sun Life International Hubs based in Hong Kong. I could not thank Sun Life enough for this true global career opportunity and I can’t wait to learn, grow and create my new footprint in Asia,” shares Helen in her post.

Helen carries more than two decade of professional experience, and has spent almost 19 years working in the HR domain. Having graduated from Civil Aviation University of China, she started her career as a flight interpreter with Northwest Airlines. After spending close to two years in this role, she moved to the HR domain, taking up her first role as an HR manager with Bell Canada, in 2002.

Emily Schur, SVP, global talent, Sun Life expressed her confidence in Helen’s capabilities saying that she will definitely “continue to set new goals and reach new heights”, and is looking forward to Helen “smash her next chapter.”

With an MBA from McGill University, Helen also had a fairly long stint with Pratt & Whitney, a company which works in the aerospace sector, for about seven years. She joined as a manager for learning and development (L&D) and then moved on to don the mantel of HRBP leader and also handled leadership development for Canada and US regions.
