IIM Shillong recently completed its summer placements for its 2019-21 Post Graduate Programme (PGP) batch. The highest stipend offered to the batch stood at 3 lakhs which is the same as the 2018-20 batch. The average stood at 1.31 lakhs.

Prominent recruiters, such as Aditya Birla Group, Bajaj Finserv, Cognizant, HSBC, ICICI, Tata Steel, D E Shaw, Goldman Sachs, Google, GroupM, Fidelity Investments and Nomura Invest Bank. Among the first time recruiters were ABFRL, Bain Capability Network, Boston Consulting Group, Dalmia Cement, Deloitte India, Future Generali, IBM, Niine, Ninjacart, OLA Cabs, Pepsico, Qwixpert, Raam Group, Reliance Industries Limited and TATA Power.

IIM-Shillong saw participation from 68 recruiters this time around and across domains such as consulting and strategy, finance, general management, human resources, operations and sales and marketing.

Sales and marketing once again has continued to be the most sought after profile with 33 percent of the total offers made for this domain. Previously for the summer placement for 2018-20 batch, the numbers stood at 38 per cent. This was followed by consulting and strategy.

In the 204-strong batch, the majority of the students come from an engineering background followed by students with a general science and arts background. In terms of previous experience, domain wise, IT and consulting and strategy were in the majority followed by sales and marketing. IT amounted for the most number of students in the previous batch as well.

Apart from sales and marketing, offers made for general management roles saw a significant jump this year. With almost double the number of offers made since the last placements, the highest stipend offered also saw a 26 per cent increase this year.
