HCL Technologies is reportedly shifting its workload to other geographies to maintain business continuity, as India is reeling under the impact of the second wave of the pandemic. The Company is in continuous dialogue with clients and prioritising work accordingly. In addition, the firm has also announced a skill-based allowance of 25-30 per cent of their CTC for 16,000 of its employees.
Expecting a double-digit growth this financial year, the Indian technology firm has also announced that it will hire 20,000 new freshers this fiscal. In the last fiscal, the Company hired 14,500 freshers. The fresh hirings will happen globally and the firm will set up special programmes to enable this.
It has 30 per cent of its workforce outside India and is prioritising work according to importance. The firm also started a COVID helpline number for its employees with 15 doctors and 20 nurses last year. Now, since the second wave has hit, the number of doctors has been increased to 20.
Working with a hospital to set up healthcare centres at two of its campuses, it has ensured that its employees get access to healthcare services in these difficult times.
Three years ago, HCL started its skill-based allowance, which will benefit 16,000 staff members this year.
According to the firm, 25-30 skills have been identified, which are in demand as per their customers. On the basis of18 months of data, the Company has geared up to skill and certify its workforce and fill positions, internally.
The total head count of HCL stood at 1,68,977 at the end of March 2021. The attrition rate also fell from 10.2 per cent to 9.9 per cent in the last quarter of FY 2021.
