In an effort to reduce operational cost, Brave Software has downsized its workforce by nine per cent. The move comes as the developer of the brave browser navigates through the difficult economic climate.
As per media reports, the layoffs will impact multiple departments, but no specific details have been disclosed yet.
Brave Software is a technology company founded in 2015 by Brendan Eich and Brian Bondy. Known for its privacy-centric innovations, the company’s flagship product is the Brave web browser, built on the Chromium engine, which offers enhanced privacy through default ad and tracker blocking.
In a community call held in July 2023, Eich disclosed the company’s plan to implement on-chain BAT payouts without requiring Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification. He mentioned that this development is part of BAT’s ongoing roadmap, which seeks to simplify rewards for Brave browser users while safeguarding their privacy.

It is currently facing financial challenges due to its heightened operating costs, and the layoffs are a part of its broader cost-cutting initiative,
The current layoffs impacted 70 roles across departments such as corporate, feature, television, and technology department.
DreamWorks Animation is a subsidiary of Universal Pictures under Comcast’s NBC Universal division. It is an animation studio known for producing some of the highest-grossing animated films in history. Recently, it collaborated with Netflix on the animated feature ‘Orion and The Dark,’ set for a 2024 release. Furthermore, the studio is known for its successful animated films, including ‘Shrek 2’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 4.’
