Infosys has paused its recruitment tests for around 20,000 job candidates after detecting multiple cases of impersonation during its ongoing hiring process.
The IT major was running tests as part of its annual campus and off-campus hiring drive for freshers. During routine checks and monitoring, the company found that some candidates had arranged for other individuals to take the exams in their place. This practice violates the company’s code of conduct and undermines fair competition for all applicants.
To maintain the integrity of the recruitment process, Infosys has reportedly decided to postpone the exams until stronger identity verification measures can be put in place. The company reported that it is reviewing its current checks and will reschedule the tests only after ensuring that such fraud cannot reoccur.
This delay will impact thousands of freshers who are expecting to move to the next stage of hiring this year. Infosys has reportedly not yet announced new dates and has asked candidates to monitor its official career page for updates. The company has also warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those found involved in impersonation.
This incident reflects a growing challenge for IT firms as hiring moves increasingly online. With the use of remote testing and AI-based assessments, verifying candidate identity has become more complex. Several companies in the sector have reported similar issues in recent months.
Infosys emphasised that it remains committed to hiring fresh talent but with no compromise on transparency and fairness. Job seekers affected by the postponement have been advised to stay alert for the next update on the rescheduled exam dates.
