Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) demonstrates unwavering dedication to community welfare with yet another impactful initiative. The employees took the reins of safety by affixing fluorescent stickers on bicycles in the Sukinda Chromite Mine campus.
Realising the paramount importance of visibility, especially in low-light conditions, FAMD employees launched a concerted effort to heighten safety standards for the surrounding communities. This innovative endeavour not only made bicycle visibility better but also served as a crucial step towards accident prevention, a pressing concern in regions such as Sukinda.
By significantly enhancing bicycle visibility, Tata Steel and its employees aspire to mitigate the risk of accidents, particularly during dusk and dawn. This employee-driven voluntary initiative underscores its unwavering commitment to safety and community well-being.
This initiative follows previous endeavours where FAMD employees showcased their dedication to community service. They have, in the past, organised volunteering activities at the Swami Chidanand Cultural Centre in Ghagia Sahi, Kaliapani locality, and the Annapurna Child Care Home in Nuagaon village, Jajpur district. These efforts included donations of school bags and learning materials to children and voluntary river cleaning at Damasala nullah in the region.
Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys and Minerals Division (FAMD) is a crucial segment of Tata Steel, one of the leading steel manufacturers globally. It primarily focuses on producing and marketing ferroalloys and minerals, essential raw materials for steelmaking. These materials play a vital role in enhancing the properties of steel, such as corrosion resistance, strength and durability.
Furthermore, it operates with a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, adhering to stringent environmental standards in its mining and processing operations. It also emphasises community engagement and social- development initiatives in the areas where it operates.
