Amazon will reportedly pay up to $4,000 to employees who may have to travel to get an abortion, if the facility is not available within 100 miles of their home.
However, Amazon has extended this benefit to cover other procedures as well, such as cardiology-related treatment and cellular gene therapies.
Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase & Co. may also follow suit and offer to cover abortion travel expenses for its employees. However, discussions are still on and nothing has been formally finalised as yet.
With over 50 per cent of its workforce comprising women, Levi Strauss & Co. had earlier already offered to reimburse travel expenses of its employees in case they wish to seek treatments or healthcare outside their state, including abortions.
Apple staff have also been offered reimbursement of medical expenses in case they have to travel outside Texas. Drivers employed with Uber and Lyft have been assured by their employers that their legal fees will be covered in case they get into trouble due to the abortion bill of Oklahoma state.
Meanwhile, there are reports that speak of a leak of information regarding the likelihood of at least a dozen states making abortion illegal, if individual states are allowed to regulate or even ban abortion.
