Social media micro-blogging platform Twitter’s identity has been associated with the little blue bird ever since its inception. However, Elon Musk, owner, Twitter, and Linda Yaccarino its CEO, recently announced a change of logo removing the iconic bird image and replacing it with the letter ‘X’.
The rebranding is being looked upon as a second chance for the company to create a larger impact as it looks forward to embarking on a new journey as stated by Yaccarino in a thread of tweets.
In a memo to Twitter employees, Yaccarino applauded them for their hard work pointing out that it was not easy in life or business getting a second chance to prove one’s self. She pointed out that 17 years ago, Twitter came with a bang, changing the speed with which users accessed information. People communicated, debated or responded to happenings around the world with a sense of urgency and in a powerful and animated way. It proved a boon for politicians, public figures, and brands who could reach out to masses in a more effective way and build lasting connections. The challenge to dream bigger, to come up with new ideas and fulfill potentials always egged them on.
The memo also mentioned that usage was now at an all time high.
“At ‘X’ we preserve free expression and choice, create limitless interactivity, and build a marketplace that enables the economic success of all our participants. With ‘X’, users will enjoy new experiences in audio, video, messaging, payments, banking, and creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services and opportunities,” she added.
Yaccarino pointed out that Musk and she would work to keep the entire community up to date with information needed to progress further.
She invited everyone to be a part of X’s journey ahead to go on to make that ‘big impression’ on the world together.
