The job fair organised by Retailers Association of India (RAI) in association with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) saw more than 500 students of the distance learning graduation course in retailing bag jobs in the retail space.

The Fair was held at the IGNOU Headquarters, New Delhi, where over 35 retail brands participated and offered jobs to over 500 students.

The Association has created a comprehensive distance-learning graduation programme through IGNOU that includes periodic coaching sessions, guidance and internship opportunities with leading retailers. More than 3,000 students registered for the course in 2021.

In the words of Lawrence Fernandes, director, retail learning & membership, Retailers Association of India (RAI), “The Job Fair is a critical link that helps bridge the talent gap in the industry with people that are specifically trained for retail. And we are happy to see some of the best brands in the country participating in it and offering full-time jobs to students, instead of internships”.

The success of the job fair is proof of the “effectiveness and relevance of the curriculum in making the students industry-ready”, said Lawrence.

Some of the known and top retailers that participated in the Fair were Arvind Lifestyle Brands, Infiniti Retail (Croma), Jubilant Foodworks, Marks and Spencer, and Reliance Retail.

Retailers Association of India (RAI) is the representative body of Indian retailers, which works to create the right environment for the growth of the retail industry in the country. It works with the Government and other stakeholders to ensure employment and career opportunities in the retail space.
