As part of its endeavour to update its business strategy and launch more restaurants, McDonald’s will review its corporate headcount and let go some employees in certain departments in four months’ time.
Chris Kempczinski, CEO of the American multinational food chain has reportedly indicated an intention to cut jobs. The Company will make an official announcement regarding the same on 3 April, 2022.
Meanwhile, employees have been informed to expect some difficult decisions in the times to come, include major reorganisation as the Company tries to cut costs, expand, open more restaurants, and improve performance.
Kempczinski has indicated to the employees in an e-mail that while some jobs may be shifted, others will be done away with altogether. This reorganisation, it is expected will help make the Company more efficient and innovate at a better pace.
While no specific number has been revealed officially, McDonald’s has assured that those affected will be given the required support from the Company.
The food outlet, which has a two lakh-strong global workforce, is planning to focus more on developing its stores and shelve certain initiatives that are not a priority presently. Some departments will also be expanded.
The food chain is present in over 38,000 locations across at least a 100 countries.
