For the last seven years, the employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) employees have been hoping to be paid salary as per the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations, which has come to frutition now. Now the NDMC employees will get their salaries as per outlined by 7th Pay Commission.
In a statement to media, Kuljit Chahal, a member of NDMC, mentioned all NDMC departments’ employees will be entitled to the benefits outlined in the Seventh Pay Commission’s salary structure. The proposal was presented during the council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
The move will benefit 11,000 current employees and 11,000 former employees, retired before December 31, 2015. Furthermore, an additional suggestion was put forward to extend the Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) pay scales to remaining sections, specifically the accounts, audit, and law departments, covering the period from April 1, 1998, to December 31, 2015.
Chahal further explained that the goal is to prevent legal disputes and prevent any sense of dissatisfaction among these personnel. He also emphasised that the adoption of the 7th CPC will also streamline long-pending promotion processes. Additionally, if any recovery is undertaken from an employee, it will not be deducted.
Chahal also mentioned ongoing effort by NDMC involves matters such as the regularisation of 4500 regular must roll (RMR) employees and providing job opportunities for compassionate employees.
