Attendant allowance for pensioners raised by 50 per cent

The payment has been increased from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,750 per month.

Attendant allowance, which is given to retired central government employees, when a 100 per cent disabled retired employee needs the services of a constant attendant for at least three months, has been increased by 50 per cent from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,750 per month.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has brought in this change after it was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission.

The allowance is given only when it is sanctioned by a competent medical authority.

The order will be applicable from 1 July, 2017. The constant attendant allowance is paid in addition to the disability pension.
