Even with a nationwide lockdown pushing people to stay indoors, individuals worried about their provident fund accounts no longer need to do so. The Employees’ Provident Fund Office has come out with an advisory for the beneficiaries to avail the online services, from the comfort of their home.

This puts to rest concerns salaried individuals may have. It also offers a solution to those who may be trying to apply for PF withdrawal or transfer.

The EPFO came out with an advisory for its members, pensioners and employers to make use of the online services offered by the organisation and avoid visiting their local offices.

Subscribers can now avail most of the services online. They can even generate their own Universal Account Number (UAN) and also activate the same online. The entire KYC process can be completed on the website itself by linking the Aadhaar, PAN, Bank Account and mobile number.

Employees looking to transfer their accounts from public to private trusts or the other way around can do so online.

Further, employees have the option to log on to the member portal, make nominations or view their fund balance in their passbooks. They can also opt for PF transfer by updating the exit date in the EPDO system itself. They can raise claims for PF advances, pension, insurance benefits and receive said benefits directly into their accounts without having to step outside their house at all.

On March 23rd, the EPFO announced that it will disburse the monthly pension to its 6.5 million account holders to help them tackle the outbreak.

In the same announcement, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner has directed the field offices of EPFO to generate and reconcile pensioners’ details and pension amount statements for the month by the March 25, so that the payments are made on time.
