Freshworks, a SaaS company, is currently experiencing a series of departures at the executive level. As per media reports, chief human resource officer Suman Gopalan and chief marketing officer Stacey Epstein have both resigned from their positions. Their last working day with the company will be September 15, 2023.
The company disclosed in March 2023 that its co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) Shan Krishnaswamy exited the company in September 2022 as part of a management reorganisation. After that, the company reported its second phase of workforce reductions, affecting higher-ranking personnel such as senior directors, product managers, and senior vice presidents across teams like GTM (go-to-market).
As per sources, these are not classified as layoffs, rather, they reflect the extent of cost-saving measures being implemented.
In statement to media, the company explains how Suman and Stacey, who have been integral members of the Freshworks team for a considerable time, have individually chosen to exit from the company. Throughout recent months, they have fulfilled their roles while assisting in identifying suitable replacements and ensuring smooth handovers for their respective teams.
The company has already filled the position of CHRO with someone who is set to commence their role at the end of August. However, the search for a new CMO is ongoing, according to sources.
Freshworks’ statement expressed gratitude for Suman and Stacey’s dedicated efforts that guided the company through its IPO and transition to a publicly traded entity. It also acknowledged the strong groundwork they’ve laid for Freshworks’ future achievements.
